Former American President George H.W. Bush Dies At 94

Updated at 12:15 a.m. ET George H.W. Bush was the definition of establishment success: Yale graduate. Prosperous business career. Forty-first president of the United States. But to one admittedly biased observer, the elder Bush has always been shortchanged. "As a result of him being a one-term president, historians hadn't paid much attention to him," George W. Bush told NPR in a 2014 interview. He called his father "one of the greatest one-term presidents in the nation's history." George Herbert Walker Bush died Friday at the age of 94.

Is this really what Yahoo plus is all about

To Adeolu Alabi, a 28-year-old university dropout, crime pays–and in hard currency, too. The young man, who abandoned his studies–for reasons he was reluctant to disclose–at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye in Ogun State, seems to have everything he needs. He owns an apartment in FESTAC Town in Lagos, owns three cars, dresses trendily and he is widely admired by youths in his neighbourhood. Members of his family treat him like a king. He is, indeed, the king because he is the breadwinner of his family. Among his friends, Alabi is affectionately called Chairman. In his church, Alabi, who is taken for a banker, is often approached for financial assistance and does not disappoint. He also disclosed that he pays his tithes regularly and has been blessed accordingly. But b

Fact-check: Has Buhari died and been replaced with a lookalike?

Several high-profile figures in Nigeria, including a former government minister, have claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari has died and been replaced by a lookalike from Sudan. Tweets, Facebook posts and YouTube videos repeating claims that the leader of Africa’s most populous nation is an imposter called “Jubril” have been shared and viewed over 500,000 times But there is no evidence to back up the claim and the government has not commented.  What are we verifying? – Former military ruler Buhari, 75, has made several trips to London for medical treatment since mid-2016. Initially, the presidency claimed he had a “persistent ear infection”. But concern mounted from early last year about his prolonged absences, prompting speculation the condition was more serious and might affect his ability to stay in power. A lack of information about the exact nature of his illness, his gaunt features and a reduction in public appearances have fed speculation about his well-being. Claims about

asuu Strike Update: Students May Stay Long At Home

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has warned that the ongoing strike by its members may last for a prolong time as no concrete resolution has been reached in the negotiation with the Federal Government. The president of the union, Biodun Ogunyemi called on parents and students to show understanding and solidarity with the union as this is towards saving Nigeria’s university system from collapse. “The struggle is to ensure too that we save Nigerian universities from going the way our public primary and secondary schools have gone. “Today, most parents are sending their children and wards to private primary and secondary schools around the country because of the perceived or alleged falling standards. “We do not want our universities to go the same way because a lot of our parents may not be able to afford the private university fees,’’ he said. WhatsApp's new feature will be an absolute game-changer if you love..

All too often, changes to WhatsApp can be a pain to get used to - but the latest development appears to be one that the app's users will love. After much pressure, WhatsApp finally introduced the ability to delete messages in October last year - but only for seven minutes after they had sent it. Now the app appears to be extending that time frame to over an hour. According to information spotted by Dollar_mind , Android beta users with the WhatsApp version number 2.18.69 will have the "Delete for Everyone" feature extended from 420 seconds to 4096 seconds - or 68 minutes and 16 seconds.
